Board Election Information

The PHCD Board's policies on elections and fillings vacancies by appointment are drawn from the District's By-laws and California Government Code.

Two seats on the District's board of directors were filled in the November 6 election  There were three candidates for two open seats.  Read the candidates' Statements of Qualifications here.  The following Election Briefs notice was published in the Petaluma Argus Courier on November 8:

Barnett Chelemedos, Ambrosi winning health care seats
Two newcomers were poised to win seats on the Petaluma Health Care District board in unofficial results after Tuesday’s election.
With all 62 precincts reporting results, Crista Barnett Chelemedos and Gabriella Ambrosi held leads. The top two vote getters win seats, and incumbent Joe Stern trailed Ambrosi by 126 votes.
The District owns Petaluma Valley Hospital and is engaged in negotiations with St. Joseph Health over a contract to manage the hospital.
Barnett Chelemedos, 55, is executive director of a nonprofit that advocates for senior health care, and Ambrosi, 62, owns Sequoia Senior Solutions, an inhome care provider.

 

The following details are offered for anyone interested in serving on the PHCD board in future.

 

1. The Petaluma Health Care District has a five-member Board of Directors. Members must run for election and are elected by the residents of the District.

2. The term once elected is for four years and there is no limit to the number of terms.

3. Prospective Board members must be at least 18 years of age and must be District residents.

4. Board members are not to be absent from three (3) consecutive regular meetings, or from three (3) of any five (5) consecutive meetings.5. Board members are expected to participate on Board Committees and Ad Hoc Committee meetings as assigned by Board President.


Information on Upcoming November 6, 2018 Consolidated Election for Petaluma Health Care District Board of Directors

The regular biennial election of the Petaluma Health Care District (PHCD) Board Directors will take place on November 6, 2018 in the consolidated election. There are three PHCD director seats up for re-election – two seats are four-year terms and one seat is a two-year term. Nominations for district director seats will open on July 16, and close on August 10, 2018.  If an incumbent director does not file for re-election, the deadline will be extended to August 15.*

Completed forms must be submitted in person at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office by August 10, 2018.*
