City Council Vote Pays Tribute to Petaluma Health Care District’s Work and Promotion of Health Care Awareness and Options in the Community

PHCD is pleased to announce that the Petaluma City Counci voted last night to declare May 2015 as Health Care District Month. This declaration recognizes the essential role PHCD plays in Southern Sonoma County and the importance of creating and promoting health and wellness programs, services and initatives that contribute to the health and vitatlity of the community.

Health Industry, Whole Foods Offering free wellness Program

North Bay health care industry leaders have formed a unique partnership to bring wellness classes to the public for free.  St. Joseph Health, Petaluma Health Care District (PHCD) and Whole Foods will be offering trainings and lectures on health and well-being throughout the year.  The goal of these programs is to offer a variety of tools nd techniques that will improve the lives of the attendees.

Elece Hempel: Co-Woman of the Year, Argus Courier

Elece Hempel, executive director of Petaluma People Services Center, was named co-woman of the year for Sen. Lois Wolk’s Third District. Wolk, D-Davis, honored Hempel and Dr. Geni Bennetts of Napa County for their contributions to improve lives in their communities as part of Women’s History Month.

“As executive director of Petaluma People Services Center, Elece Hempel is an invaluable asset to Sonoma County,” Wolk said in a statement. “As a 22 year resident of Petaluma, nobody understands the needs of the underserved in Petaluma better than Elece. “Elece is an outstanding resource and I rely on her to help serve our mutual constituents,” said Wolk.

Hempel received the award on March 27 at a ceremony at Robert Craig Winery Tasting Room in Napa.
